POLOKWANE – Five male suspects between the ages of 24 and 36 are expected to appear before Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 January 2025, facing charges of common robbery and attempted murder. According to the reports, Ritavi police apprehended five male African suspects, respectively, on 01 to 03 January 2025 at Lusaka village. Allegedly, the first victim was at the nearest tavern when he was approached by the suspects, and an altercation ensued that led to the fight. The victim was assaulted with different objects such as a knife and iron steel bar and the suspects left the scene afterward. The victim sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention. In the other incident on Sunday, 08 December 2024, the same suspects assaulted a 34-year-old man from Lusaka on his way home from work. The victim was approached by a group of men who physically fought, assaulted him with a bottle, and robbed him of his cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to the closest hospital. He managed to identify those five suspects. The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has praised the team for working around the clock to arrest the suspects. All suspects will appear before Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 January 2025, facing charges of common robbery and attempted murder. Police investigations are underway. Ends
