Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The strategic deployment of law enforcement officials along entry and exit routes of the region continues to yield dividends with the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R25 000 on the N1 at Prince Albert. On Wednesday, 25 December 2024 at about 07:00 Central Karoo and Prince Albert police members conducted a vehicle check point along the N1 where a Toyota Quantum minibus was pulled over. A search of the vehicle ensued during which the members discovered two travel bags containing two hundred and fifty three (253) bundles of Khat. The drugs were linked to a passenger on board who was subsequently arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs. The 24-year-old suspect was traveling to Cape Town at the time of the discovery. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in the local court later this week. Ends
