Media Statement KIMBERLEY – Personnel of the South African Police Service attached to Provincial components in Kimberley experienced the warmth of Christmas during the Provincial Commissioner’s Carol’s by Candlelight Service that was held at the Provincial Commissioner’s Boardroom in Kimberley on Monday, 23 December 2024. The event was graced with the presence of the Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, senior officers, members and employees of the SAPS. Christmas Carol is a century old ceremony that is held on the evening that precedes Christmas eve. The song itself, “Christmas Carol “as well as other hymns, have since become a tradition for Christmas time and this is a theme that is annually embraced by many countries during festive season. Father Tumelo Mosito from St Boniface Catholic Church in Galeshewe, was the officiate and his message was focused on the birth of Jesus Christ. He read from the book of Matthew 1:18 – 25. While speaking to the attendees of the event, Lt Gen Otola encouraged everyone present to cherish the moments of Christmas while creating the new ones with their loved ones. She also wished a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Before the conclusion of the service, Chaplain Pudule led a candle light and prayer ceremony to remember those who lost their lives during the year. Ends
