Media Statement UPINGTON – The ZF Mgcawu District management commended the superb conduct by off duty members of Upington Border Police with the assistance of Upington K9 Unit, that has dealt a massive blow to a drug peddler in Rosedale area. This after the members acted swiftly upon information received from a source that the suspect arrested on Friday, 20 December 2024, for dealing in drugs, had more drugs hidden at the premises in Rosedale. A search warrant was obtained, and the information was operationalised. The owner of the premises was questioned but had no knowledge of the drugs. The owner however handed over a locked bag which she was supposed to keep in storage for the suspect and upon searching the bag mandrax tablets valued at R 720 000.00 as well as tik valued at R1 500.00 were discovered. The drugs were seized, and an additional charge was added against the suspect. The 38-year-old male suspect is still in custody and is expected to appear in court soon. The police are determined to stamp the authority of the State and ensure that they leave no stone unturned by following all information sourced from the community. Ends
