Media Statement KIMBERLEY – Richmond police are investigating a culpable homicide case following a collision between a truck and a light motor vehicle on the N1 road outside of Richmond that claimed the lives of two people, a 61-year-old male and a 16-year-old girl, on Thursday, 19 December 2024. Preliminary investigations indicates that the driver of the truck was travelling from the direction of Hanover/Richmond and observed the light motor vehicle veering out its lane colliding with the oncoming truck. Two occupants of the light motor vehicle, a 58-year-old female and a 10-year-old boy as well as the 53-year-old truck driver were transported to the De Aar hospital in a critical but stable condition. The police are appealing to road users to adhere to road safety rules and to stay alert, avoid driver fatigue and distractions. Ends
