Media Statement PARKTOWN – The ongoing efforts of the police to fight trio crimes and the proliferation of unlicensed firearms has proven to be effective. This after police arrested nine suspects on the morning of 18 December 2024 at Kagiso for conspiracy to commit a robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms. It is reported that, a team of Intelligence officers together with West Rand TRT swiftly operationalised information about a planned robbery to be committed in Randfontein area. The identified bakkie was seen and immediately stopped. When searched, several false registration number plates were recovered and further investigations led the team to a safe house in Kagiso where eight more people were found with two pistols and an AK47. All nine suspects, including the driver of the bakkie were arrested and are expected to appear before court soon. The public is urged to continue reporting criminal activities on the SAPS Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 or give anonymous tip-offs on MySAPS App which can be downloaded on any smartphone.
