Media Statement KOPPIES – Collaborative efforts between various units of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have resulted in the arrest of five suspects in connection with a business robbery and attempted murder that occurred in Koppies, Free State. On Saturday, 14 December 2024, and Sunday, 15 December 2024, members of the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team, Sedibeng Tracking Team, including other private security companies, worked together to track down the suspects. Following intelligence led information, the team conducted a series of operations in Sedibeng, Johannesburg CBD, Soweto, Roodepoort, and Vosloorus, resulting in the arrest of five suspects aged between 36 and 57. The suspects were found in possession of a stolen rifle and two pistols with filed-off serial numbers. The suspects have been transferred to Koppies, Free State, where they will face charges related to business robbery and attempted murder. “I would like to commend the outstanding teamwork and dedication displayed by the members involved in this operation.” Said the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane.
