Media Statement POTCHEFSTROOM – On Wednesday, 11 December 2024, at about 18:00, information received was operationalized by Swartruggens Detectives, assisted by a local farmer neighbourhood watch, leading to the re-arrest of a third escapee, Johannes Mfaladi (28), who was hiding on a Farm in the Swartruggens area. He escaped with four other’s from the Swartruggens police detention cells on Sunday, 8 December 2024 and was detained for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH). Mfaladi will appear before the Swartruggens Magistrates’ Court on a charge of escape from lawful custody on Friday, 13 December 2024. Only one escapee is still on the run, namely: 1. Thapelo Mogwele Molebatsi (25), detained for theft at Swartruggens. The police request anyone with information that can assist in the re-arrest of the remaining escapee to contact the nearest police station or the Investigating Officer, Captain Peterson Monageng on Cell: 082 569 5868.
