Media Statement FREE STATE – The director of Global Water Treatment Solution, Jappi Sera Madigage (49), was found guilty of tax-related fraud and sentenced by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on 04 December 2024. The sentencing follows the arrest of Madigage by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team based in Welkom on 27 November 2023. He made his first appearance at the Bothaville Court on the same day. A case was registered at Bothaville SAPS in 2019 after a board member of Sedibeng Water received an anonymous tip-off about criminal activities relating to a tender to supply water purification chemicals. Madigage and his company, Global Water Treatment Solution, were sentenced to five years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years. He was ordered to pay a fine of R25 110. 26 in monthly instalments of R2 500. The Acting Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in the Free State, Brigadier Sophie Hange welcomed the sentencing and commended the investigating officer for a job well done.
