6 December 2024 – South African Football Association (SAFA) Technical Director Walter Steenbok has graduated with a FIFA Technical Leadership Diploma at the world football governing body’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
Steenbok is among the first of 23 participants out of the 211 member association to graduate with this first-ever industry specific diploma for global football leaders.
The diploma covered five (5) important knowledge domains – technical leadership, coach education, high performance, amateur football and management.
These domains were supported by Masterclasses, Evidence Portfolio, Transformational Projects and Final Presentation covering four blocks from Brazil, Japan, Netherlands, and Switzerland.
Speaking to www.safa.net, Steenbok explained the impact of the diploma in shaping SAFA technical and development.
The diploma has capacitated all the technical leaders to progress and advance the management, leadership, coach education, grassroots, and school football and talent identification and development agenda.
“I will continue to serve the players (boys and girls), football, and its critical stakeholders by applying the knowledge and expertise gained from this special FIFA leadership programme.
“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank FIFA Global Football Division, technical leadership team, tutors, and colleagues for this opportunity and experience,” said Steenbok.
