Media Statement CAPE TOWN – The confiscation of firearms to keep our communities safe, led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man for the illegal possession of a firearm on Thursday, 05 December 2024. Members of Makhaza police followed up information of a firearm at a premises in Shushu Street, Makhaza and upon searching the premises they found a 9mm pistol with one empty magazine hidden in a red lunch bag. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen in Khayelitsha. The suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court once he has been charged. Ends
