Media Statement FREE STATE – Combat and Proactive operators continue to carry out foot, vehicles and air-to-ground drone patrols in Beatrix Mine Shaft 4 area. The team arrived at the first pit where three men were busy with open cast illegal mining activity. Gold bearing material weighing at 12.08 kilograms and one (1) phenduka were seized. The suspects aged 25, 30 and 38, were then apprehended. The operation continued and three other male suspects were found at another spot also busy with open cast illegal mining activity. Gold bearing material weighing at 12.36 kilograms and another phenduka were seized. The three males aged 28, 29 and 33 were then arrested. Cases of Possession of suspected gold bearing material; gold processing equipment with additional charge of Contravention of Immigration Act were opened at Theunissen Police Station. Suspects will appear before Court soon. Ends
