Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged communities to intensify the fight against gender-based violence following attacks which resulted in fatalities recently in Sekhukhune District. The latest incident occurred at Ka Petsa village in Apel policing area on Saturday, 30 November 2024, involving a 50-year-old woman who was killed in her home. The deceased was found dead in her house in what appears to be a domestic related dispute. It is alleged that on Saturday 30 November 2024, the deceased was alone at her home and her husband left in the morning for to attend to piece jobs. He reportedly returned home arriving late in the evening at about 21:00. When he apparently knocked at both two doors of their common homes, all doors were found to be locked and there was no response. Apparently he then decided to open since he was in possession of spare key and found food already prepared for him and he enjoyed his dinner and went to sleep until the following day. Further information suggested that the husband and the woman were staying on the same premises but in separate houses. The woman was found deceased in her house the following day. Although no arrest has been effected, police believe that a known man, who is staying within the same vicinity and used to frequent the place, might assist the police the investigation and in resolving the case. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has reiterated that this incident follows the Ntoane incident where a 42-year-old woman was allegedly brutally murdered by her husband who was later found dead in an apparent suicide. The Provincial Commissioner has urged people in the relationships to seek assistance if they are facing relationship challenges. She also urged communities to intensify the fight against gender based violence working closely with the police. Police investigations are ongoing Ends
