Media Statement MELODING – A 33-year-old man has been arrested for alleged attempted murder following the assault of his girlfriend. According to reports, the complainant informed the police that she was at a tavern with her boyfriend on Saturday, 30 November 2024 at 02:00, when they were approached by an unknown male who requested to speak privately to her boyfriend. She further alleged that during their conversation she overheard the unknown male saying to her boyfriend, “you can have her”. Thereafter her boyfriend came back and forcefully grabbed her before he allegedly started to assault her. He pulled her outside and drove off with her into the bushes, where he continued to assault the victim. He allegedly bumped her with his vehicle and, while on the ground, drove over her. She sustained several serious injuries. He drove with her to the hospital, where he dropped her off. Tshepiso Mofokeng (33) was later arrested and has appeared today in the Virginia Magistrate’s Court. He remains in custody pending further police investigations. Ends
