NELSPRUIT – Justice Malumane (27) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for attacking two alleged commercial sex workers after he refused to pay for services rendered. According to information, the incident took place in Hazyview on 25 October 2019. The convict refused to pay for service rendered, and when the victims demanded payments, he then stabbed both victims with a broken beer bottle. One of the victims succumbed to her injuries whilst the second victim survived after receiving medical attention in the hospital. The suspect was arrested shortly and spent time behind bars before he was sentenced to ten years imprisonment for murder and five years imprisonment for attempted murder at Mbombela Regional Court on 30 October 2024. Malomane was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has welcomed the sentence and commended the work done by the investigating officer to ensure that perpetrator spends time behind bars.
