GAUTENG – On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, the police in Gauteng arrested two suspects for illegal mining and seized various tools that are suspected to be used for illegal mining in Kameeldrift. As the police continues to disrupt and dismantle the illegal mining activities in Gauteng, another site was identified in Kameeldrift Policing Precinct, and the police pounced on it. Two suspected illegal miners were found at the illegal mining site and were arrested. Police seized tools and equipment that are used for illegal mining, including the following: 284 x Blasting cartridges 1 x 50kg Ammonium Nitrate Blasting agent 2 x Reels of Detonating cord 1 x Compressor 2 x Compressor pipes 6 x Long Drilling pipes 6 x Short Drilling pipes 1 x Jack drill hammers 3 x Drillers Explosives Police also confiscated an NP300 Nissan Hard Body.
