Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Efforts to clamp down on the possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition as well as dealing in drugs were rewarded when police members confiscated a zip gun with ammunition and drugs in isolated incidents. Grassy Park police members were busy with patrols on Monday, 25 November 2024 when they saw a suspicious man on the corners of Lade Road and 3rd Avenue who appeared to be extremely nervous when he saw the patrol vehicle approaching. They searched the man which resulted in the recovery of a zip gun with ammunition. They detained the 30-year-old man for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Meanwhile Makhaza Crime Prevention Unit executed high density patrols on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 when they received information of a possible drug delivery at an identified address. The members drove in the direction of Khokhelela Street where they entered the house and searched the entire premises which resulted in the confiscation of a consignment of drugs. They detained a 31-year-old man for dealing in drugs. Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Wynberg and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges. Ends
