For the first time in 22 years, Jacaranda FM has teamed up with One Gospel to spread the Christmas cheer far and wide.
CAROLS BY CANDELIGHT AND THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
This exciting partnership aims to make the SPAR 2U Carols by Candlelight event, a beloved national tradition.
The event will make it more accessible to viewers across South Africa, according to Jacaranda.
It began as a small benefit concert, but is now set to reach more people than ever before, thanks to this new collaboration.
What started on a rugby field with just a handful of attendees has grown into a major Christmas celebration.
SPREADING THE CHRISTMAS CHEER
Each year, Carols by Candlelight attracts over 14,000 viewers both in person and online, according to Good Things Guy.
Last year, the event raised an incredible R500,000 to buy gifts for children in need, truly capturing the spirit of Christmas.
This year, with the added support of One Gospel, organisers aim to make the event even bigger. They want to bring the festive joy to households across the country and beyond.
THE CHRISTMAS TWO-PART SPECIAL
Deirdre King, Managing Director of Jacaranda FM, is excited about this new chapter for the event.
“This partnership has been a joy in the making, and we’re beyond excited to have SPAR 2U Carols by Candlelight shared with One Gospel viewers,” she says.
“This is one of South Africa’s premier events, and we’re thrilled to bring it to an even wider audience.”
One Gospel will broadcast the magic of Carols by Candlelight in a beautifully produced two-part special, according to Jozi Gist.
The broadcast, which will run from 15 to 24 December.
JOY AND UNITY THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON
It promises to be a world-class viewing experience, showcasing the joy and unity of the festive season. Calvin Sefala, CEO of Urban Brew Studios, echoed this excitement.
“Bringing this incredible production to life for a wider audience within South Africa and the SADC countries through DSTV footprint has been a privilege.
We’re thrilled to be part of an event that spreads joy and unity across all of Southern Africa during the festive season.
Audiences can expect a world-class show, beautifully filmed and full of moments to celebrate.”
SPAR2U CAROLS
The SPAR 2U Carols by Candlelight concert features a variety of carolers from around the world. All these carolers will be performing under the ‘Home for Christmas’ theme.
This brings a sense of togetherness and warmth, reminding viewers of the true spirit of Christmas—love, giving, and community.
Whether you’re watching with family or alone, the event promises to offer a moment of festive joy that will create lasting memories.
EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC
For South Africans who may have missed the live event, the broadcast provides the perfect opportunity to experience the magic.
The concert will air at convenient times, ensuring that everyone has the chance to tune in and join the celebrations.
With stunning visuals, captivating performances, and a heartwarming atmosphere, this year’s SPAR 2U Carols by Candlelight special is sure to become a highlight of the festive season.
GIVING BACK THIS CHRISTMAS
“We’re proud to be part of something so special,” said Deirdre King.
“Christmas is a time for giving. Through our partnership with One Gospel, we are able to bring that spirit to even more homes this year.”
The event’s ability to raise funds for underprivileged children makes it a Christmas miracle in itself.
Last year’s R500,000 donation went towards providing gifts for children who might otherwise have gone without.
COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN
This year, organisers hope to raise even more, spreading even more cheer across South Africa.
