VIRGINIA – Quick police reaction leads to arrest of four armed would-be robbers in Virginia and the recovery of firearms. On 25 November 2024 at about 12:45, Virginia police received an intelligence led information about four armed males in a silver Toyota Avanza heading towards Virginia. Members advanced and drove around in Queensway until the vehicle was spotted, a brief chase ensued and the suspect’s vehicle came to an abrupt stop. Three males jumped out and started running. Members also stopped the vehicle and a foot chase started. One of the suspects who was in possession of a firearm started shooting at the police. Members responded and one suspect was arrested after he was cornered holding a firearm. The other two were also arrested shortly thereafter after police found them hiding in the nearby yards. Upon searching the vehicle, members found a 9mm pistol star Norinco with 03 live ammunition and a black blow P29 9mm with 02 rounds. Preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects are illegal immigrants and the vehicle used was also stolen in Thabong back in May 2022. The four suspects aged between 32 and 47 years old were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and attack on police. They will appear in the Virginia magistrate’s court soon. Ends
