Media Statement FREE STATE – Members of South African Police Service and South African National Defence Force continue to execute policing activities along the borderline areas in Ficksburg area. The team carried out observation and way-lay actions in the Ports of Entry area and noticed suspicious movements of motor vehicles towards the Soutkop Farm. The team cornered four (4) males with ages ranging between 26 and 58 at the Farm and a search was conducted. One-hundred-and-eight (108) heads of sheep and sixty-four (64) goats were found at the Farm. The stock had different brand marks. On further search, a number of animal branding equipment were found. Stock Theft Unit members from Ladybrand were called to assist with processing the scene. The total value of impounded livestock is estimated at R194 400-00. The Toyota Corolla in which the suspects were hiding and the branding equipment was found and also seized. The four (4) foreign nationals were immediately arrested. A case of Possession of suspected stolen livestock was then opened at Ficksburg police station. The suspects will appear in Court soon.
