Media Statement GAUTENG – On Monday, 18 November 2024, an intelligence driven operation was conducted in conjunction with members of Springs Crime Prevention at one of the houses in Tsakane. This is after members received information regarding a suspect in possession of a firearm. The suspect was found at a local car wash and upon searching him, the police found a black fly wheel firearm loaded with five rounds of live ammunition. The investigations, led the police to the suspect’s house where they recovered a reflector jacket belonging to Gauteng Traffic Wardens and one SAPS rain coat. The 41-year-old suspect is expected to appear before court soon on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and live ammunition and suspected stolen property. Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole commended the members for their swift response in effecting the arrest and addressing proliferation of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in Ekurhuleni District.
