On Tuesday, 19 November 2024 at about 08:15 members attached to the Knysna police responded to information of an illegal firearm on board a vehicle. The team patrolled the area when they spotted the vehicle parked near a building site in Main Street, Knysna. A search of the vehicle ensued upon which the members found a 9mm short pistol with an empty magazine concealed inside the vehicle. Police confiscated the firearm and arrested a 45-year-old man on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the local Magistrates’ court, once charged. Western Cape police management commended the members for their swift response to ensure that an illegal firearm is removed from the streets. Ends
