Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Friday, 15 November 2024, the Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation conducted an intelligence-driven operation based on information received about an alleged drug dealer selling illegal substances at a parking lot adjacent to a restaurant in Pietermaritzburg. The team located the suspect and conducted a search, during which they discovered a bag containing an estimated R400-00 worth substance suspected to be a cocaine powder and R1 680-00 in cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with dealing in drugs. The illicit drugs and cash were seized for further police investigation. The suspect is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court, today , on 18 November 2024. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona applauded the members for the good work. Enquiries: Ends
