Media Statement POLOKWANE – Members of Operation Vala Umgodi comprising of the Mopani District Illegal Mining Task Team nabbed one suspect with dagga during an intelligence driven operation targeting suspects selling drugs around Mashishimale area, Namakgale, Mopani District, on Friday, 15 November 2024, between 08:00 and 16:30. The team received information about drug dealing activities at three locations around Namakgale. Upon arrival at the first location, nothing suspicious was found however upon proceeding to the second and third identified locations, a group of suspects were spotted fleeing in different directions. The team however, managed to apprehend one male suspect, aged 52, who was in possession of sachets containing dagga weighing 0.305 grams. While patrolling, members made another discovery of 47 sachets of dagga, crystal meth, and Nyaope that were found abandoned. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest, confiscation of the drugs and further applauded members of the Vala Umgodi operation for their hard work in ridding this province of any form of criminality. The suspect will appear before Namakgale Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of possession of dagga. Police investigations are ongoing. Ends
