Media Statement BLOEMSPRUIT – The accused was previously sentenced by Free State High Court to 12 years’ for murder and 30 months for contravention of a temporary restraint order back in 2016 after he brutally attacked and murdered his 34-year-old wife while at work in Hospital. The 39-year-old, who is a former K9 police official, was again charged for the rape of his stepdaughter who was seven years old at the time in 2015. It is alleged that the victim was repeatedly raped by the suspect from 2013 until the matter was reported to the police in 2015 after the accused was arrested for murder. These incidents allegedly happened each time when the victim was left in the care of the accused who is the victim’s stepfather, when the mother goes to work. The family was staying together at a house in Namibia Square, Mangaung, Bloemfontein. The case was investigated by Warrant Officer Corne van Zyl of Mangaung Family violence, Child protection and Sexual offences unit guided by National Prosecuting Authority Advocate Joseph Cwele, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment for the rape of his stepdaughter.
