Media Statement REITZ – Three suspects were apprehended by farmers on a farm outside Reitz after they were found in possession of 28 sheep, of which 10 were tied with ropes. On 12 November 2024 at about 17:00, the farmer counted 143 sheep in his kraal and noticed an unknown suspect taking out sheep from his kraal. He immediately alerted neighbouring farmers for assistance. The suspects were pursued and arrested while a fourth accomplice managed to escape. All three were handed over to the police. They were found in possession of carry bags, knives and ropes. All the sheep were recovered and handed over to lawful owner. The three suspects from Bohlokong near Bethlehem are expected to appear before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 15 November 2024, facing charge of stock theft. “We urge all farming community at this festive season to continue reporting any suspicious people trespassing on their farms whether on foot or by cars. It can be during day or night because stock theft becomes rife during this time, “said the Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane. Ends
