Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The Western Cape division of the High Court granted a forfeiture order to the Hawks’ Asset Forfeiture Investigation in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit. The order was issued on 08 November 2024 and received on 13 November 2024. This stems from November 2023 when the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’s South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) team received information about a Toyota Dyna that was driving towards Cape Town. The information was operationalized and the vehicle was spotted in Strand. After it was pulled over, a search was conducted and 66 407 Mandrax tablets to the value of R2 656 280.00 were found in the hidden compartment. The vehicle was seized as an instrumentality to commit an offence and a forfeiture order was granted on the Toyota Dyna worth R66 100.00. The matter against Sinethemba Nyakaza (35) is postponed to 14 February 2025 for trial. Ends
