POLOKWANE – The Vhembe District police have arrested a 42-year-old male suspect involved in hijacking a taxi and robbing victims of their belongings in the Mutale policing precinct committed on the 02nd October 2024. It is alleged that a 42-year-old male suspect hijacked a Toyota Quantum together with three male accomplices and allegedly shot a member of the neighbourhood watch at Tswera Bridge. The hijacked Toyota Quantum was later found abandoned at the Vhurivhuri-Golwe picnic campsite main entrance. Two suspects aged 35 and 41 were subsequently arrested at Tshandama village in Makuya precinct, but the other two managed to evade arrest following the incident. On Monday, 04 November 2024, police received information about the location of the 42-year-old male suspect in the District. An intelligence driven operation was immediately executed by Thohoyandou police together with the members of Tactical Response Team (TRT) at Tshiulungoma village and resulted in his apprehension at the area. The suspect is further positively linked with an attempted murder incident also committed in October 2024 at Makuya policing area, including a house robbery at Ha-Tshifura village under the Thohoyandou policing area. The suspect is expected to appear before the Makuya Regional court soon. Police investigations are continuing. Ends
