Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the life imprisonment sentences handed down by Louis Trichardt Regional Court to 21-year-old man, Pfarelo Nemutandani, who was the friend to the boyfriend of the victim. During court trial, it was found that on 22 June 2022, at around 01:00, the victim visited her boyfriend, at Ha Mutsha Khwekhwe. At some stage, her boyfriend went outside and immediately she heard someone entering their bed. She initially thought it was her boyfriend, but while busy with intimate session, she realised that it was a different person. She screamed and jumped from bed. She found that it was her boyfriend’s friend and as such she opened a rape case. The police were notified and the suspect was arrested for rape. The docket was transferred to Thohoyandou Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, and assigned to Warrant Officer Khorombi Christopher Tshivalo for further investigations. Following thorough investigations, the accused was found guilty for rape and was sentenced to life imprisonment. “We appreciate the efforts by the investigating officer and everyone who participated in the case,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
