Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The excellent collaboration between the Investigating Officer Detective Sereant Mojalefa Ignatius Mokitimi and the State Prosecutor, Advocate Anel Stellenberg from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) secured a life sentence handed down to 43-year-old accused, Xolani Gerald Pherndro Bilatyi in the Victoria-West High Court on Friday, 25 October 2024. The accused reported the murder to the police in Victoria-West on Saturday, 09 September 2023, who accompanied him to a farm outside Victoria-West. Upon investigation police discovered that the floor was wet and found a brick and a broken mop hidden and noticed that the crime scene had been tampered with. The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of his 46-year-old partner, Dina Nosipho Matyobeni. Further investigation revealed that on Friday, 08 September 2023, the accused and the deceased went to a shebeen in Victoria-West and on their return to their residence on a farm, an argument ensued. The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola applauded Detective Sergeant Mojalefa Ignatius Mokitimi, who, through his efforts secured the hefty sentence and ensured justice for the victim of this heinous offence was served.
