Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The multi-disciplinary team comprising of the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau SANEB), Crime Intelligence Counter Narcotics and Gangs, Public Order Police (POPS) have on 23 October 2024 arrested a 24-year-old suspect for Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act. On Wednesday, 23 October 2024, members of the Hawks’ SANEB received information regarding a NP 300 bakkie with a trailer allegedly transporting drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town. The information was operationalized and the vehicle was spotted on the N2 near Strand direction Cape Town. The vehicle was stopped and upon search, blocks of compressed cannabis were found concealed in false compartments in the trailer. The estimated value of the drugs is over R 1million. Suspect will appear in the Strand Magistrates Court on 25 October 2024. Ends
