Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, today addressed the newly appointed constables who have successfully completed their basic training as part of the Project 10,000 recruitment drive. This initiative aims to strengthen the South African Police Service and enhance community safety. The group consists of 304 Constables who recently passed out in Philippi and Oudtshoorn, Western Cape. They underwent a condensed six-month Introductory Police Development Learning Programme, thanks to their relevant qualifications in Law, Policing, and Criminology. In her address, Lieutenant General Hadebe commended the constables for their dedication and hard work. She emphasized their vital role in maintaining law and order and building trust within the communities they serve. “The skills you have acquired are not just tools for your job; they are instruments of change,” she stated. “As you step into your roles, remember that you represent hope, safety, and justice for the people of Limpopo.” The Provincial Commissioner also stressed the importance of integrity, respect, and professionalism. She urged the constables to engage proactively with their communities, fostering relationships to strengthen public safety efforts. She expressed confidence in their ability to contribute significantly to the safety and well-being of all citizens in the province. The constables will be deployed to various police stations and specialized units, including Public Order Police (POP), Visible Police (VISPOL), and the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. This deployment aims to enhance their capacity to combat crime and address emerging trends. As they begin their duties, especially during the upcoming festive season, she urged them to remain vigilant and tactically alert, noting that criminals have become increasingly aggressive. “Be proud of your work, and remember that leaders are born. Be a leader in every aspect,” she concluded. These Constables are now prepared to face the challenges ahead with resilience and commitment. Ends
