Media Statement POTCHEFSTROOM – In an endeavour to rid communities of drugs, police in Ikageng operationalised intelligence regarding suspected drug dealing activities and arrested two suspects on Saturday afternoon, 05 October 2024. The pair’s Toyota Hilux vehicle was spotted and stopped for a search leading to the discovery of bags containing more than 340 kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R5 million. The accused; Asiphe Nomde (32) and Mncedisi Mthunzini (41) were released on a warning following their appearance in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 October 2024. They are expected to reappear before the court on Tuesday, 26 November 2024. The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena thanked the police for their relentless efforts in the fight against trafficking of drugs. He further urged the community to continue to be the eyes and ears of the police to prevent and combat crime. Ends
