Media Statement MPUMALANGA – A 44-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Standerton Magistrates court on Thursday, 10 October 2024, after he was arrested by the Hawks Secunda and Middelburg based Serious Organised Crime Investigation. The suspect was arrested in connection with the theft of copper cables from Tutuka Power Station. The suspect is a brother of the Tutuka Power Station principal inspector Refilwe Motloung (36) who was remanded in custody by the Standerton Magistrates court on Friday, 4 October 2024 pending her next court appearance on Thursday, 10 October 2024. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect played a key role in directing and escorting trucks during the theft. He will join two previously arrested suspects in court on Thursday, 10 October 2024. His arrest brings the total number of arrested suspects to seven (7). Four additional suspects will be charged in connection with the Standerton case.
