Media Statement POLOKWANE – The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Major General Samuel Manala has ordered police to intensify the search for suspect/s who fatally shot the 40-year-old male victim at Mecklenburg policing area under Sekhukhune District. Preliminary investigations revealed that on Saturday 28 September 2024 at about 23:00, the victim (deceased) was at his friend’s rental residence together with a friend busy consuming alcohol in Diphale Mashibiring village. The victim left the place with the intention to fetch a cellphone charger at his rental house not far from the premises. It is alleged that while the victim was approaching the gate, he was shot at multiple times by unknown suspects who immediately fled the scene. Members of the Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned to the scene and declared the victim dead on their arrival, the victim sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. The Acting Provincial Commissioner has since ordered the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit to take over the investigation.
