WESTERN CAPE – The determination by the members attached to Strand SAPS to rid our streets of drugs and firearms, once again yielded positive results when members arrested a 21-year-old man on charges relating to illegal possession of drugs and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. On Sunday, 29 September 2024, at around 20:20, members received information about drugs and a firearm being stored at a premises in Geldenhys Street, Strand. They immediately operationalised the information and attended to the mentioned address where upon arrival they spoke with a 21-year-old male who introduced himself as the owner of the shack. A search was conducted, and 80 mandrax tablets, 18 sachets of tik, a revolver, and ammunition were found and seized underneath a couch. The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and will appear in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges once he has been charged.
