Media Statement POLOKWANE – The South African Police Service in Mogwadi under Capricorn District confiscated illicit cigarettes worth more than sixty thousand rands during the routine patrol duties executed on Friday, 27 September 2024. It is reported that police were busy patrolling along Blinkwater farm when they saw a silver Toyota Quest motor vehicle with Gauteng registration number. The motor vehicle with one male occupant was stopped and police asked him to come out with the objective to search it. The driver did not comply but immediately drove away at a high speed and a car chase ensued until he stopped next to Brookman village. Suddenly, the unknown male suspect vacated the motor vehicle and ran to the nearby bushes to evade an arrest. The abandoned motor vehicle was searched and police discovered illicit cigarettes comprising of cartoons of Remington Gold brands. The motor vehicle together with the illicit cigarettes were immediately confiscated on the spot. A manhunt of the unknown male suspect is underway and police request anyone with information that can assist with his apprehension to contact the Investigating Officer, Captain Manamela on 082 414 3088 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or nearest police station or MySAPS App. Police investigations are continuing.
