Media Statement WELKOM – The police in Welkom are looking for two suspects after a 39-year-old foreign national man was fatally shot yesterday, 25 September, in Reitzpark, Welkom. According to reports, members attached to Welkom SAPS responded to a shooting incident that occurred in Reitzpark at 19:00. Upon arrival the members found an African male lying on the ground with three gunshot wounds. It is reported that the deceased was shot outside his place of residence. He was on his way to work when two African males with Lesotho accent fatally shot him in front of his colleague who was waiting in the car. No arrests have been made as yet and circumstances surrounding the murder are still being investigated. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects can contact Sergeant Modupe Thekiso of the Welkom Serious and Violent Crimes Unit on cellphone number 083 929 8149 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111. Alternatively, an anonymous tip-off can be sent via the MySAPS App.
