POLOKWANE – Members of the Sekhukhune Tracking Team, in collaboration with Matlelerekeng Detectives, have cracked down on a syndicate responsible for a series of robberies in the Matlelerekeng Dennilton policing areas. Two suspects were arrested during intelligence-driven operation conducted on Tuesday, 24 September 2024. This criminal group appears to have been targeting stores predominantly owned by foreign nationals across Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. The operation focused on the borders of Sekhukhune District and Siyabuswa, following credible intelligence related to ongoing robberies. The investigation led officers to Vaalkraal RDP in Matlelerekeng, where the first suspect, aged 33, was apprehended at his residence and linked to a recent business robbery in Matlelerekeng. Further investigation directed the team to Kgaphamadi Village in the Dennilton policing area, resulting in the arrest of a second suspect, aged 39, who was found in possession of illegal ammunition One additional suspect remains at large, along with the vehicle and firearm used in the commission of these crimes. This team of investigators is actively pursuing this individual, and with the confidence, he will be brought to justice soon. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Major General Samuel Manala applauded the team of men and women in blue for their relentless efforts in pursuing and apprehending of the criminal elements in the province, assuring the community safety and security. Both arrested suspects will face three charges of business robbery and possession of illegal ammunition in the respective courts shortly.
