Media Statement POLOKWANE – In a decisive move to restore peace and safety in the community, police have arrested four suspected gang members during an intelligence-driven joint operation in Botlokwa, Capricorn district on Tuesday, 24 September 2024. The suspects, who have been terrorizing the local community by robbing people near shopping complexes and filling stations, after threatening them with knives, were apprehended by the police at a shopping complex in the area. The arrests follow a thorough investigation into a recent series of robberies targeting residents as they walked from local shopping areas. During the operation, police recovered several stolen items, including a laptop and cellphones that were sold to individuals. Positive leads have been established to recover more stolen items. The suspects, aged between 19 and 44, are expected to appear in Botlokwa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 26 September 2024, to face 11 charges related to robbery with a weapon other than a firearm. Further investigations are ongoing, and additional arrests may follow as police continue to pursue justice for the affected community members.
