POLOKWANE – Modimolle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has secured another significant victory in the fight against sexual violence, earning praise from the Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. Tebogo Ephraim Khoza, a 26-year-old, has been convicted and sentenced to an effective 20 years in prison by the Modimolle Regional Court on Thursday, 19 September 2024, for the brutal rape of a 19-year-old woman. On 24 July 2016, Khoza threatened the victim’s male friend with a knife, after meeting them in Phagameng Location causing him to flee, and then assaulted and dragged the victim to an unoccupied house next to the stadium, where he raped her. He then took her to his residence and continued the assault. The victim promptly reported the incident to the police after her release. Detective Sergeant Sheila Tukakgomo led the investigation and Khoza was arrested in the same year, remaining in custody throughout the trial. In addition, he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
