Media Statement NELSPRUIT – The SAPS in Mpumalanga received six fully equipped vehicles from Seriti Community Trust in Emalahleni yesterday, 13 September 2024. The donation was received by the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi and the Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie. Three fully branded vehicles and furbished with necessary equipment, including radios, sirens cameras as well as health and safety equipment, were issued to be utilised by the stations. One out of the three vehicles was specifically allocated to rural safety. The other focus was on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. As a result, three other vehicles were allocated to Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) to help boost service delivery in and around Emalahleni station areas. The donation will supplement the ten vehicles that were donated by the same Community Trust seven months ago, in January 2024. The Seriti Resources Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Mike Teke said the Community Trust made these donations as they feel is crucial for the Trust to ensure a safer, peaceful community and a sustainable mining environment. “We are proud to be collaborating with the SAPS on this project, which will benefit our host community in Mpumalanga, including Rural Safety and FCS in Emalahleni, Kriel, Morgenzon, Ogies, Phola and Vosman,” said Mr Teke. On receiving the vehicles, both the MEC for Community Safety Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie and Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi welcomed the donation from Seriti Community Trust and their efforts to fight crime more especially Gender Based Violence and Femicide as well as improving Rural Safety.
