Female suspect in custody after she drowned to death a 6-year-old child

MQANDULI – A 23-year-old suspect Noluvuyo Sinyikatha of Zangci Location in Mqanduli is remanded in custody after she drowned a 06-year-old girl on Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at Upper Ngqwarha location in Mqanduli.

The suspect was arrested and charged for murder following the incident whereby she lured the 06-year-old child into a nearby dam. She drowned her and left her in the dam. The deceased body was spotted by a passer-by and police were summoned. An inquest docket was opened by Mqanduli police for investigation.

Thorough investigation by police, led to the arrest of Sinyikatha, and an inquest docket was changed to murder. She appeared at Mqanduli Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 04 September 2024, and is remanded in custody to appear again on Monday, 09 September 2024, for formal bail application.
