DURBAN – The Camperdown Regional Court has on Thursday, 29 August 2024 sentenced a 39-year-old man to serve four terms of life imprisonment sentence after he was found guilty of raping his stepdaughter several times at their home at H Section, Valley View in Mpumalanga township. The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor victim, started raping the little girl when she was just 12 years old. Police proved to the court that the man would take advantage of the girl when her mother was at work, and would send her siblings to the shop before raping her in his bedroom. The rape ordeal, which started in November 2020, continued until the matter was reported to the police on 11 October 2022 and the suspect was arrested. The investigating Officer pulled out all stops to ensure that the stepfather was kept behind bars until the day of his sentencing. The convict’s name will be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders. Ends
