POLOKWANE – The Mahwelereng Regional Court had on Tuesday, 03 September 2024, sentenced the accused, Lucky Sethole (27) to an effective 12 twelve years’ imprisonment for murder after he stabbed to death a male victim at Phola Park in Mahwelereng during 2023. The court heard that on 01 September 2023, the accused was with his friend when he stabbed a 46-year-old man with a knife on the street and robbed him off an undisclosed amount of cash. Thereafter, they left him and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to local hospital by the witnesses, thus succumbing to injuries sustained during the ordeal. The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Lesiba Sekutu attached to Mahwelereng Detective unit. The accused and his accomplice were traced and arrested. The accused, Lucky Sethole (27), was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment for murder and the court further declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm. Charges against his accomplice were all withdrawn by court. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the sentencing and applauded the investigating officer for a sterling job that resulted in the conviction of the suspect.
