GAUTENG – A key figure in the theft, refurbishment, and sale of network tower batteries, Nelson Usale Mlotha has been convicted and sentenced for his crimes, following a case of tampering with essential infrastructure and fraud, the crimes were committed in Wierdabrug in May 2022. Mlotha (31) was issued with a warrant of arrest in April 2023, but fled to Malawi to avoid arrest. Following his return to South Africa in January 2024, he was apprehended and brought to justice. The court has sentenced Mlotha to 10 years for tampering with essential infrastructure and 8 years for fraud. Ends
