Suspect faces charges for the illegal possession of a firearm

WESTERN CAPE – The fight to eradicate the illegal spreading of firearms in our communities’ yielded success on Wednesday morning when members of Grassy Park police pounced on an address in Duiker Avenue, Lotus River and arrested a suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The members received information about a suspect who was in possession of a firearm and proceeded to the address. Upon arrival at the address they found the suspect inside the house. They ensued with a search of the premises during which they found a 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition in the house.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
