WESTERN CAPE – The Western Cape division of the High Court has granted Hawks’ Asset Forfeiture Investigation and National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit a forfeiture order. The order was granted on 19 August 2024 and received by the Hawks on 22 August 2024. This success emanates from February 2023 when the SANEB team of the Hawks based in Bellville received information about a silver Chevrolet Utility bakkie that was enroute to Cape Town. The vehicle was spotted on the N7 highway and upon search, 13 000 mandrax tablets were found in the hidden compartment and seized. The forfeiture order on the vehicle valued at R108 100.00 which was utilized as an instrumentality was granted. Ends
