New research has revealed the ten most searched celebs in the world today with a cricket star, a footballer and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend making the list.
Google search data lets us know which celebs people are most interested in from all over the globe.
The ten most searched celebs
The study conducted by experts at SEO platform Ahrefs analyzed a list of over 13,000 billionaires, musicians, TV and film stars, celebrities, influencers, politicians, and athletes.
Researchers ranked each celebrity based on monthly search volume over the last 12 months to establish which are the most Googled worldwide.
“It’s fascinating to see the most Googled celebrities in the world as showcases a diverse array of careers and nationalities,” Tim Soulo, CMO at Ahrefs commented.
“Leading the list is Taylor Swift, whose music, tours, and personal life continually spark immense interest globally. Mia Khalifa, with her controversial past and outspoken activism, remains a highly searched personality. The late Matthew Perry, beloved for his role in Friends, has seen a resurgence in searches, especially after his untimely passing.
“Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo consistently draws attention for his football achievements and personal life. Hollywood stars Margot Robbie and Sydney Sweeney captivate audiences with their impressive film and TV roles. The influential rapper XXXTENTACION remains a figure of intrigue after his passing in 2018.
“NFL star Travis Kelce, particularly with his recent high-profile relationship and American Football success, garners widespread attention. Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli attracts a massive following, reflecting his sporting excellence and popularity. Finally, Ryan Gosling, with his versatile acting career and recent roles, rounds out the top 10, highlighting the global appeal of these diverse celebrities.”
Taylor Swift topped the list of celebrities receiving the most monthly Google searches, with 23.7 million searches on average globally. Pennsylvania-born Swift is the most searched-for celebrity in countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy and Germany. Swift is being Googled 254% more on average monthly than Ryan Gosling, who landed tenth on the list of most global Googled celebrities.
In second place is Lebanon-born Mia Khalifa, with 14.4 million Google searches a month on average. Countries such as Ukraine, Egypt and Lebanon have Khalifa as their number one most Googled celebrity.
In third place is the late Matthew Perry with 10.6 million monthly Google searches on average globally. Matthew Perry is the second most Googled celebrity in Canada and United Kingdom and the third in his home country United States, after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The inquest into the star’s death has generated great public interest.
Ronaldo among ten most searched celebs
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo comes in fourth place with 10.2 million Google searches a month globally. Ronaldo is the celebrity with the most followers on Instagram with 632 million followers. The footballer is the number one top celebrity search result for countries such as Portugal, Romania and Peru.
In fifth place is Australian actress Margot Robbie, who has 9.2 million Google search a month globally. The Barbie actress is the second most searched for celebrity in countries such as Finland, France and Italy.
Actress Sydney Sweeney followed closely behind in sixth place, with 8.2 million monthly searches on average globally. Australians are searching for American Actress Sydney Sweeney 7% more than Margot Robbie, who was born in Dalby, Queensland, Australia.
In seventh place is XXXTENTACION with 8.1 million monthly searches on average globally. The rapper is the most searched celebrity in countries such as Kenya and Pakistan.
American Football player and boyfriend of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, is in eighth place, with 7.2 million monthly Google searches globally. The couple rank first and second most Googled celebrities in the US.
Virat Kohli makes the list
Just after that is Cricketer Virat Kohli, who has 7.2 million monthly global searches. India is searching for Delhi-born Virat Kohli the most globally, followed by Mia Khalifa and XXXTENTACION.
Finally, rounding off the list in tenth place is Ryan Gosling, with 6.7 million Google searches a month on average. The American actor is popularly searched in Turkey, being the fourth most searched for celebrity after Cristiano Ronaldo, Margot Robbie and Elon Musk.
