Kaizer Chiefs fans must be applauded for their unbridled loyalty to the cause and the badge. After all, football is a religion.
Ten commandments for Kaizer Chiefs fans
- “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” – That’s right. It’s Chiefs or nothing when supporting one of the continent’s biggest sides. It’s even frowned upon to have a second-favourite team.
2. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.” – Forget about material things, the thing you worship most is your beloved football club and its crest. Okay, and maybe your expensive legit merch.
3. “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” – Who’s your favourite player? It’s slim pickings in 2024 but always use their name respectfully.
4. “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” – Sometimes you need to take a day off from football. No transfer rumours, no banter, just a day off. Sounds insane but sometimes that’s necessary.
5. “Honour thy father and thy mother.” – It’s likely that one, or both of your parents got you into football and indoctrinated you with the Kaizer Chiefs spirit. Always thank them, even if it feels like you don’t want to.
6. Thou shalt not kill.” – Um, this is just a life rule.
7. “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” – If you even consider supporting another football club, maybe this sport just isn’t for you.
8. “Thou shalt not steal.” – Don’t take your friend’s tweet and use it without their permission purely for clout.
9. “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” – If you wanna bail on a friend’s party because of a Chiefs game that’s on at the same time, rather tell them the truth than spin a lie. They’ll admire your passion and honesty.
10. “Thou shalt not covet.” – Yes, Sundowns win the title every year but they bought that success with money. Chiefs fans know what it truly feels like to earn the crown in South Africa.
Is this clear, Amakhosi fans?
Potential Best Chiefs XI under Nabi?
This projected XI would include new signings Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel AND Gaston Sirino. Left-back Bongani Sam might not be fit for the start of the new campaign, so Thatayaone Ditlhokwe might have to shift to a slightly unfamiliar left-back role. If Dillan Solomons is fit, he’ll be picked at right-back ahead of Reeve Frosler. Ashley Du Preez is the subject of big-money interest from Portugal.
Youngsters Nkosana Mbuthu and Manqoba Ozoemena are intriguing additions to the first team, while the club’s ongoing talks with 21-year-old Cape Town Spurs winger Asanale Velebayi could still bear fruit.
Fiacre Ntwari; Dillan Solomons, Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe; Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Inacio Miguel; Mdu Shabalala, Gaston Sirino, Ashley Du Preez; Ranga Chivaviro.
What are your thoughts on the club’s prospects in 2024-2025? We’d love to hear it all.
